Photos from our Ice Cream Social that was held on August 3rd. I am just now getting them downloaded from camera and uploaded onto our blog! I know I'm behind, but technology is NOT my thing. This is our gifted classroom.  :)

Gifted field trip to the History Museum in Carthage. The students are working on a History project in class. Michelle from the Museum was a huge help in answering our many questions and showing us the difference between a primary & secondary source. Thank you, Michelle for your help.

Hello,

This is Jase, Eli, Matthew, and Jacob. We are all in the sixth grade. In a few weeks we are going on a field trip to the Carthage Museum, and to the Missouri Southern Library. In the Carthage Museum we are asking questions about National History Day and at the library we are researching our topics.

Our topics are:
Jase and Jacob doing 9/11's American Airlines Flight 77 that hit the Pentagon. So far we have the flight path timeline.

Matthew and Eli are doing the John F. Kennedy (our 35th president) assassination theories. So far we have contacted the curator of the Dallas Museum in Dallas, Texas.

Taylor is doing Dr. James Naismith (the inventor of basketball). So far she has the first rules of basketball and James' life.

Gracie is doing women's right to vote emphasizing Elizabeth Stanton's role in that process. So far she is a couple of pages into her research.

Thank you for visiting our website and learning about our projects.

Hurray for History!

As the year begins, the sixth grade gifted students are exploring the important days of history.  National History Day is drawing near and we are just getting started.  To contribute to this day we will be going to competition to represent Seneca Intermediate School.  Eli and Matthew will be contributing their pesentation about John F. Kennedy's assassination. Jacob and Jase will be doing the  9-11 Flight 77.   Taylor will be creating a presentation of the invention of basketball and James Naismith.  Gracie is doing the 19th amendment for the women's right to vote. The topic of National History Day is "A Turning Point in History." As we begin, we realize the complications and difficulties we will be facing. The contest rule book consists of 27 full length pages covering 24 different topics. We will have the option of writing a paper, creating an exhibit, acting out a dramatic portrayal, creating a powerpoint, or costructing a website.  National History Day will take place sometime during the spring. Everyone is really looking forward to this event, but we are waitng to see if we will be ready when the time comes.  If not, we will present a school "Mock History Day," so time is not wasted. Good luck to the sixth grade gifted students and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Parent's Night Out....
We had a blast! Pizza, Chips, and Pop for supper... Can you say, "Junk Food - YumO"?

Sidewalk chalk, games, and lots of playing outside.  Running in the hallways!  Oops, did we just break the school rules?  Yes, we did!  Then back to the class for some more Junk Food and a movie.  We watched Shiloh (Our favorite book).  What a great evening.  Love these kids!
